APA is an independent theatre company committed to challenging the concept of what theatre is, by nurturing, making and producing work that is high quality, contemporary, collaborative, innovative, risk-taking and edgy. Our theatre explores a variety of styles and employs a cross arts approach. We aim to make a direct and immediate connection with our audience. We engage with and contribute to the cultural, creative and imaginative life on the Surf Coast and beyond.

Based in Anglesea, Anglesea Performing Arts Inc (APA) is an award-winning Theatre Company that has provided entertaining community theatre, for more than 30 years. Early productions were usually musicals, but more recently the company has focussed on creating and presenting thought-provoking, cutting edge contemporary theatre.

A little history

• Started in 2001 in local peoples’ homes – play readings and discussions.
• Operated in Senior Citizens’ Hall for 18 years.
• Lobbied for an arts space for 15 years.
• Continued full-length and one-act plays three times a year for 20 years.
• Led the community in convincing local government to permit the use of the old basketball court (recreation centre) to become a performance and visual arts centre.
• Contributed to the planning and development of Shoestring Playhouse and ‘The MAC’ (Multi Arts Centre).
• Developed the functionality of Shoestring Playhouse and took on its management in 2021.

Private and group singing, acting and speech lessons, focusing on solid vocal technique, building confidence with your voice, coaching for auditions and performances, preparation for VCE and AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) exams. Jessica has over sixteen years of vocal training and is an animated and inspiring teacher.
