During the Surf Coast Arts Inc Postcard Exhibition, Julie Dyer was questioned about the techniques used to create her work.
Julie is a beginner in the technique, so we have invited Jan Preston to come and share her knowledge in this process.

Always a sewer, from very young Jan sewed on her mother’s treadle sewing machine.
Now A Quilt maker, Textile Artist and Tutor

A passion for collecting, observing nature, photography, texture and colour has been the inspiration for Jan’s work.  It is this that brings her work together whether it be in her Quilts or Art Quilt collection.  This may also be inspired by Life’s Journeys.

A further passion is collecting and restoring old fabrics and family collections, recovered items from the past to be created into Memorabilia Waggas, Japanese inspired stitched cloth and ‘Memory Cloth’, slow stitching and connecting them together with script.

Jan loves to share her knowledge with others and encourage all levels and skills into the world of both Textiles and Quilting through her knowledge, teaching or creating.
